The Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (FFPRI) strengthened its collaborative relationship with the National Institute of Biological Resources (NIBR), Korea through a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, February 8, 2012
FFPRI President Kazuo Suzuki and NIBR President Yeon-Soon Ahn signed a three-year MOU to enhance the scientific and technical cooperation between the two institutions. The MOU provides a framework for research activities addressing forest-related issues as well as the exchange of scientific information, the exchange visits of scientists and other experts. Dr. Byoung-Yoon Lee (Director), Dr. Chan-Ho Park and Dr. Jong-Hak Yun took part in the ceremony from NIBR Plant Resources Division.
Following the signing of MOU, Dr. Nobuyuki Tanaka and Dr. Byoung-Yoon Lee singed a Specific Agreement on the joint research project entitled “Qualitative assessment of climate change impact on natural vegetation in East Asia including Korea and Japan”. This research project aims to assess the climate warming impact on dominant tree species and predict future changes of forest ecosystems in Korea. It also builds a network of research groups on climate warming impact assessment in East Asia
