佐橋憲生（きのこ・森林微生物研究領域）

「日本における南根腐病の被害実態と宿主植物の解明」に関する研究が樹木医学分野の発展に貢献するものとして、その学術的価値が高く評価された。

わが国の亜熱帯地域(南西諸島及び小笠原諸島）で猛威を振るっている南根腐病の被害実態と宿主植物を明らかにした。
