Open hours

 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Gates close at 4:00 p.m.)

In April, the Science Garden opens at 9 a.m. 

Closed days 

From May through February, Mondays (If Monday is a public holiday, then the following day) (Open every day in March and April.)

New Year holidays (December 26 through January 6) 

Admission fees

Adults 200 yen; Children free (high school students and younger)

April only; Adults 300 yen; Children 100 yen

All-year Passport Ticket: 800 yen

Free when using only the Forest Science Museum. Those who enter the Arboretum or Cherry-tree Preservation Forest need an admisson fee.

* "Child" means elementary, middle, and high school students. 

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) 

Points to note about visiting the Science Garden

  • Taking plants and animal from the Science Garden is strictly forbidden.
  • Please do not enter areas that are marked ''Off Limits to Visitors."
  • The Science Garden is a no-smoking zone.
  • Lighting fires or using portable gas stoves, etc. is forbidden inside the Science Garden.
  • Visitors are not allowed to bring alcohol into the Science Garden or drink alcohol inside the Science Garden.
  • Please have picnics at the tables provided.
  • Please do not bring dogs or other pets into the Science Garden.
  • Mosquitoes are common from May to November, so please take any measures you may require in advance.
  • The Science Garden cannot accept responsibility for any injuries caused by snakes, hornets, or other wildlife-related and natural causes. Visitors are asked to take responsibility and be very careful.
  • The Science Garden makes use of its hilly grounds to offer views of trees. When you visit, please wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Sales of merchandise, commercial photography, etc. without the Science Garden Head's permission are forbidden. Visitors are required to follow instructions given by the Science Garden's staff.
  • Please refrain from walking side by side on narrow routes during crowded periods.
