---|---|
Scientific name |
Sus scrofa |
Distribution |
Lives in flatlands to low mountains, agricultural areas, and forests in Honsyu(except in Tohoku), Shikoku, and Kyusyu. |
Commentary |
They eat roots, insects, and soil-inhabiting creatures. The first one was seen at the Tama Forest Science Garden around 1999, and they continue to increase. It is for this reason that traps and barriers are used to keep them out of of the Park's public areas and to a litter recorded. They have a striped pattern for the first six months after birth. which is why they are also known as "uribo" (gourds). Fully-grown adults reach between 50kg and 150kg. |
