A perennial plant often found along the edges of streams. The petals are small and slender, yellow and shiny, with nectar glands at the base. There are numerous stamens and pistils, and each pistil develops into a separate fruit, which is entirely green and looks like kompeito, a Japanese sugar candy. The type with oblique hairs on the stem is called Yama-kitsune-no-botan (Ranunculus silerifolius var. silerifolius). |
